A flock of birds of paradise has landed in Grenada! Beautiful plumage! All shapes and sizes, astonishing colours! And great songs birds too!

Another mad night of music, light, dancing, crowds. Absolutely brilliant! I have never seen anything like this, but then again I have lead a sheltered life!
Who would have thought that getting covered in oil could be as much fun than this! The music is fantastic and the dancing around us is epic!
Grenada really knows how to party!
Thought provoking also given the history which obviously permeates the event.
What a treat, we are staying in Port Louis, St George’s marina for the duration of the carnival. Hot showers, internet access, pool, all the facilities you would expect from a first class marina. And all the parades will be starting on our front door!
Still steep, still muddy and slippery but still good fun. Glad we’ve done it again the falls are just spectacular. And Francine and Al are excellent company!
We are so lucky, being taken to a fabulous little beach by PJ and Cathie for a BBQ. Loads of their friends turned up and we have a brilliant and convivial day at the beach, idly shooting the breeze, in French obviously. Don’t think I ever spent so long in the water, it was so warm and lovely.
My favourite, the Short Knees, but then again I would like them, mix match clashing costumes with shiny mirrors on them, just what I like! Wonder if I can find some of the fabric and get myself a dress made out of it?!
Interesting story the Short Knees, brought in by the French who loved a masquarade, they were originally the well known Pierrot. By the time the British took over and emancipation came, the white faced Pierrot had acquired some colours thanks to African and Creole influences. And the mirrors offer protection from bad spirits! Need some on that dress!
Maintenance in the sun, yep that’s nice if only the rain would keep away for more than a few hours at the time. We have tried enclosing the cockpit with tarpaulin to no avail, so it is the mad dash to bring everything down in the saloon at regular interval. Still we are getting there…
Ian’s list is slowly shrinking, slowly because as fast as items are crossed out, another unexpected job needs to be taken care of…
After working very hard during thee day, the sundowners are well deserved!
Highlights of the week, the steel band practise and the carnival costumes workshop! That was just brilliant! We did manage to do some work despite our hectic social agenda. More varnish for me… will it ever end? Still we found time a hike, another Hash and BBQ on the beach.

So we had to go back to Carriacou… we forgot the boat papers in the excitement of checking in, and we did not realise it for weeks. We thought we had a good weather window for a few days…Guess the forecast was wrong. Don, our second named tropical storm paid us a visit in Tyrell Bay!

To recover from all this excitement, we thought a good walk would be beneficial. The top of Chapeau Carre was beckoning, shame we could not find the path to the top, and we were so close!
