Nearly hiking to the top of Chapeau carre

Wednesday 19th July

Bright and beautiful day, after sorting out the boat and putting it back together, we decide that a walk would be good. There is that hill overlooking Tyrell bay, the chapeau carre, we tried but could not find a path up last time we were here, so we give it another go from a different angle. Again, plenty of trails, but none marked up so it is all guess work. We were so close to the top but we came to a dead end, the bsh is so thick, we can’t really battle through it and it is getting dark. Not sure where we went wrong. Still the glimpses of the sea and island we caught we well worth the effort. We had a tamarind juice to celebrate and a passion fruit cake back at the slipway.

Thursday 20th July

Must have caught the sun yesterday on the walk. I can’t get up today, I ache all over and have a splitting headache, I sleep all day. Ian is a really good nurse, he tried to feed and water me but can’t face anything. Hopefully this should sort it.

Friday 21st July

Up with the lark, I feel a bit better, the wind is correct and we want to be back to prickly bay ready for the hash tomorrow if I can stand up. What a difference from the trip up, fast the sea is fairly flat and sunny. Ian even get the fishing gear out. No luck, I keep telling him we are going to fast at over 6 knots, all we catch is a bunch of seaweed. We had a nice sail, until we get to the middle of Grenada where the usual downpour is waiting for us. Thankfully it does not last long and we are back into our place or nearly by 2pm. Caffe Latte, Yolene & Jean are actually parked where we were but we find a little room behind them. Glad they are here, bet they’ll be at the ash tomorrow running it! Better get back to bed to build my strength up.
