Seven Sisters hike

Seven sisters falls hike

We are joining Yolene, Jean, Robert and Petra for a bit of a hike today to the 7 sisters falls. Not so far in the interior, near to the Grand etang national park. We take the local buses which are nice.  Even with the loud music we can still hear a clutch of chickens in the back. Funny how the local buses are much more comfortable and feel safer than our tourist buses we trundle around to go to the hashes. We’ve done this journey load of time but I must say I always find something I have not noticed before. We need to change at the buses station in St Georges, bustling in the early morning rush hour. We reach the start of the walk to the falls and we are given a briefing before we are allowed to set off, we need to register and They made to pick up some sticks! Off course I have mine which I have been lugging around every trails for months… never go on a hike without it!

The path is the best maintained we have seen so far. Shame the walk is so short; it only took half an hour to get to the falls. They are pretty though and we are soon jumping in the very cold water.  After a bit of a splash and still far too early or lunch, Yolene spots a steep trail, marked with yellow tape. And up we go, climbing up a steep hill following the yellow ribbons. It is a bit steep and slippery, but well worth the effort. We found the other 5 little waterfalls, that makes it 7. It is a nice walk in deep rain forest. We make it to the top, overlooking Greenville bay on the Atlantic side of Grenada. Nice spot for lunch. Not knowing where this trail leads, we decide to turn round and go back the same way so we can check out and return the sticks, we don’t want a manhunt because we have not returned in time! As usual, the way back feels shorter than the way up. Managed to fall twice spectacularly, once face in the mud, the other on the bum!

On the way back we stop at the fish market, in St Georges, it is still going even  in late afternoon. The fish looks fantastic we are tempted by some fresh tuna. Learning that we have no BBQ on board, Petra suggests that we come and use theirs, and an excellent idea this was. It was probably the tastiest piece of fish we have had so far! And I got to be nosy, New Vision is definitely a very nice boat!
