Unscheduled stop – Barcelona

So we did not stretch the engine. It was great to see Barcelona again, and coming from the sea this time, it very much looked like an American city with loads of sky scrapers and funky lights and a big great white power station which looked amazingly stylish in the fading light. I was amazed to see the Segrada Familia from so far away, easily distinguishable even from the great distance and not at all dwarfed by the surrounding buildings. We arrived in the dark and yet again mooring up was a bit tricky stern to. Took 2 goes but we did it.

29th Aug 16

Ian spent the morning tinkering with the engine trying to find the origin of the leak. He enrolled the assistance of our French neighbour, Louis, who had just sailed in from the Balearics with his wife, Amedee. Ian identified where the leak was coming from finally and in the process discovered that the engine mount was also not quite right. After debating with another English speaking person he met on the pontoon, he decided that we would carry on to Valencia, next day nursing our engine as much as possible. He was hoping that we could reach Gibraltar with careful management and have it seen to there. We rewarded ourselves with a bit of a walk into Barcelona in late afternoon. Along the beach and then onto Las Ramblas. We found the main market again and then lost ourselves in the little streets around before making our way home by the beach. Still a lovely city… could live there…

We need to pick up both Richard and Hallahala in Cartagena on the 8th  Sept, so we have not much time to lose really.
