Carnival in Blanes – Spain

We could hear music and general merriment onshore so I convinced Ian that despite our tiredness we should really go and stretch our legs for an hour or two. Glad we did, we found ourselves in the midst of a rambunctious carnival, complete with those tall and big headed characters that I had only seen on TV when the Nice’s Carnival is on: a bit like giant puppets, just as woody with funny choice of shoes. They did do tricks, i.e. swayed from side to side to the sound of the traditional bands (loads of fluty type thing and drums). The whole town seemed to have turned out in this nice evening. Loved this.

We managed to find a petrol station and got some oil, to put Ian’s mind at rest, we now had 14 litres of oil onboard….think that should be enough?
