Tobago – Scarborough

A day in Scarborough - Tobago

Saturday 7th October

We got to Scarborough early morning, beautiful sunrise over the land. The anchorage at the end of the cruise ship dock is tiny and full of small fishing crafts. Not that much room in there. We should not be long here, we’ll do the formalities, have bit of walk around and get to the next anchorage as soon as possible. Great plan....only we could not find the officials anywhere, nor their office by the dock, nor the other office in the cruise ship terminal. We were bounced from place to place until we ended up in the police station to see if they could help us track down the right person. And they did. We only had to wait for them for 2 hours; mind you we made the most of these. Had a bit of an explore of the town, went in the botanic garden, had time to go to the market. By the time we got back, we only had a little wait... Would not mind but this was the quickest we were dealt with; coming from Trinidad, all we needed was another bit of paper. It is now late afternoon; we probably have another hour or so of daylight. We make the most of it by walking up the hill to George Fort. And It was well worth it. The views from up there were breathtaking and the fort has been renovated and it all looks very good. The museum was shut which was a shame but we found the cutest of lighthouse right at the top. We got back to the boat at nightfall; just in time to see the ferry come in, a bit too close for comfort.
