Montserrat – Little Bay

Monday 22nd January 18
Rolly Little Bay Anchorage
Francine is back from the US and as Time after Time is also planning to visit Montserrat, we decide to go together. We had to wait for the right wind window, although it should be a reach all the way, there was prediction of strong wind and the swell won’t be comfortable in a notably rolly anchorage of Little Bay.
We had a blast across, peaking at 9.1 knots, brilliant, and we managed to miss the threatening rain. Four hours after leaving Jolly harbour, we are tucked up safely at the bottom of the cliff in Montserrat. The landscape is quite spectacular, high green peaks, grey cliff on the right and golden cliff on the right. Does not seem to shelter us from the wind though, guess we are getting the gusts as they are funnelled between the mountains. And it is indeed rolly in there, on par with Barbados. As the sun goes down, the cliff becomes a show in its own right, this and the incessant ballet of the pelican diving for fish provide the entertainment for the early evening. Another distraction is provided by a catamaran trying to anchor too close to Time after Time… Francine soon see them off and after a few attempts to re-anchor in Little Bay, which is not so busy with only 4 of us in they decide to give it a miss and relocate to Rendez-Vous Bay, out of the way.
Beautiful sunsets here!
