Hash – Vincennes

Saturday 2nd September

Hash day Vincennes

We haven’t been hashing for a few weeks, it is nice to get back to it. We have a full bus, we have a large French speaking contingent, we met Patrick and Catherine (Santa Barbara) on the bus to the supermarket earlier in the week and they have some friends in Grand Anse, Gigi and Robert (Pinnacle ) have also joined us, so we have booked a grand total of 8 people on  Shademan’s bus! Well does not start well. Shademan was supposed to pick up Catherine friends before picking us up. He forgot! So we have to make a detour. Then his other bus called saying that 2 more people are waiting for him on the side of the road by Calvigny island, another detour. The bus is now rammed but as per usual I have bagged my co-pilot seat at the front. With all this we are quite late. We are in the village of Vincennes, up on the hills. Karen and Will are there too, Will will be running today. Karen is walking. The start of the walk is very steep and the path very narrow, we are not going very fast, plus I have a nice Indian family in front who are obviously not so used to walking. I’ve lost Ian, he’s dropped back in the throng. Next thing I know, I got a message through one of the hash steward that he is helping someone who got hurt and not to wait for him. By this time I am on my own, so wait for other walkers and carried on. The walk is not so long today so I get back to base very quickly. A car is approaching and in the back are Catherine and Patrick (Santa Barbara). Looks like Patrick has fallen badly and hurt his back, the bruise is enormous. Fizzie very kindly takes a look at him and diagnose possibly broken ribs. Hopefully nothing more than that. She is worried about his kidneys.  After arranging a taxi for them to take them back, I resume my wait for Ian, still not back. The French contingent is here, more numerous than ever. PJ and Cathy are taking Shadowfax out on Sunday for filming a promotion video and would we like to come? Would I like to come?! I have been waiting for ever to get on that catamaran! And we’ll be in a movie to boot! That has definitely cheered me up! And the fun does not stop there, on the way back we are taken to the Yacht Club, where a band is playing and then all at the brewery where another band is also playing. We were convinced to stay by Gigi and Robert (Pinnacle). They want to dance! So we do for the second time this week!
