Beach BBQ Prickly Bay

Wednesday 5th July

We have a beautiful beach in Prickly Bay and it is mainly empty, Francine and Al take Mizzen for a walk there twice a day and they came up with the idea of having a BBQ this afternoon. And what a great idea this is. We have shade, drinks, food and good company, most of us from the trek the day before have made it. There is a very competitive game of bowls going on all afternoon, plenty of banter going on, the dogs running around or begging for attention or food… It is nice to share and swap stories and recipes in such a setting around a glass of wine or 2. Most of these people have been doing the living on board thing for years and have been places where we are dreaming to go… they make it sound so easy… We have now more places on our list to visit, it is going to take us years!

Snuggled in my hammock, I listen to all the tales, just like when I was a child and I’d been so quiet that the grownups had forgotten I was there. I watched the stars lighting up one by one. It was really lovely (apart from the mosquitoes!). Beautiful night , tree frogs and the sound of the waves provide the background symphony. And the nearly full moon makes the sea glitter. Magical.
