Another Sunday, must be BBQ day

Sunday 10th September

BBQ Calabash beach

There is a BBQ on Calabash beach today, Wood worker is organising. Not wanting to lose our spot under the tree where we can hang the hammock, we go late morning, The BBQ is supposed to start around 1pm, so we have time to flop and read before everyone turns up. Soon some local kids join us in the shade. They are getting ready to go spear fishing. They are extremely friendly and are happy to have a chat before they set off. We realise that we are in the wrong part of the beach for the BBQ, all the dinghies are going to the far end of calabash beach, right near to the car park. We do not wanting to move, there is no beach to speak of at that end, and we are comfortably set up. And the boys have come back with their catch, nothing very big but still that will be enough for their lunch. Well it was until Grand ma and Auntie pitch up. The fire is built with enough smoke to start a smoked fish business. The fishes are soon cooked. We have a nice conversation going and the hammocks are put to full use. GrandMa is not shy and commandeers the one nearest to Ian, who is asleep. He did looked startled to find this strange lady so close when he woke up.  The boys are also enjoying a nap after a bellyful of fish. But the quiet does not last long, they soon are jumping and splashing around in the water. GrandMa is chucking coconuts at them to quieten them down, only making the shrieking  and laughter worse when she missed the intended targets.  Gigi and Robert joined us too and we have a convivial evening enjoying a quiet BBQ with the locals. We brought some marshmallows and they go down very well with the youngsters. Glad we could share them.

We ended up at the Tikki bar for the Sunday evening movie. Making the most of this!
