Nuka Hiva – Hakatea Bay

Hakatea Bay

11th to 20th may 19

We stopped one night in the bay du controller, once again alloy our own, surrounded by green hills, n a jade sea. Only the sound of the goats.

We carry on further east and then north , nice sail, towards Anaho bay, again the scenery is stunning, tall cliffs and jagged pics. The anchorage is so well protected that it absolutely flat inside. We are at the foot of an impressive mountain, and 3 sandy beaches to choose from. As for the reef, it is so close that there is no need to take the dinghy to go snorkeling. We end up staying here over a week, had a bit of time with Quo Vadis, missed Vagabond, and met Isabel and Mark (jollydogs).

We did a few jobs, had a walk over the ridge to Hatiheu bay, which was really nice, despite a few bits of rain. The rest of the time we just snorkeled, had walks on the beach, watched the horses coming and going with their loads of fruits and vegetables. Not quite a village, but the surrounding are kept immaculate, loved the flowerbeds all along the shore.
