Trinidad – Work & Play

The most impressive and expensive piece of kit Ian installed when I was away is the water maker… nice job too, it is very neat and tidy, tucked up behind the stairs of the companionway. Well done Ian! This is going to change our life! Unfortunately, there is little photographic evidence of any of the done… I was not ther! Still I can confirm that we hasve now new windows in the saloon, a new solar panel to give us more power for the watemaker, a new suynshade for the front and that all the sails have been repaired and cleaned. The roller furler has been checked too and the boom has been strenghthened. As far as the saga of the engine not starting properly, we ended up changing the batteries, the controls and the injection pump has been overhaled too. And we have a huge piles of receipts! The social scene in Trinidad is not as diverse as in Grenada but we made the most of it. The Friday jam at Powerboat is a must, even if it is sometime repetitive. I am always amazed at the number of musicians amongst cruisers and the gear they carry with them… from pan flute to baby batteries , numerous guitars, most of them electric with all the bumph that goes with them, we even had a electric keyboard. Our contribution was banging sticks very noisily. Wish I had a vibroslap. The best was the jam at Peake’s, the food and the music was great and we met loads of people. Plenty French around and a few English too.
