Trinidad – Fyzabad hash

We joined the Trinidad hash on Saturday 7th September, love the name, Port of Spain Hash House Harrier, better known as POSH3. That was completely different from the hashes in Grenada. It did not start well though, we took a bus to Movie Town where the party bus was picking us up… the rain was torrential, so bad that we thought no one had turned up when no bus arrived at the designated time. It did eventually and the 20 seaters was soon filled up by all sort of people, and ian knew most of them as he had done a few while I was away. We went south to Fyzabad, a good 2 hours away. It was nice to be on the road, once we had left the horrendous traffic behind. The hash started at 4pm, and there must have been over 150 people taking part, all sizes, and ages. The walker’s group was the biggest and we rambled around the countryside, dotted with oil wells… never seen so many tiny little derricks. The highlight was definitely the climbing of a steep hill holding on for dear life on a bit of string…
The after hash party was fun too, all the ladies had changed into party outfits, dresses and shoes which would not have been out of place in a swanky bar. We got to talk to a pilot boat captain most of the evening… he had some stories to tell. The return trip was just as much fun with dancing and singing in the bus.
