Nevis on the buses

Bus trip to the north of Nevis
Friday 26th jan 18
So trip to Charlestown to check in. Since we are there early in the morning, we make the most of the day by jumping in the bus going north. Does not take long to reach the end of the line, but the entertainment provided by the commuters is priceless. In the back of the bus we are swapping recipes for banana fritters and fish stews, Ian is making friend with the locals. At the front of the bus, there is a full blown discussion on sport at school. We have seen a lot of kids obviously on school outing walks traipsing along roads. If I understood rightly, the argument was about not having enough adults to supervise these walk, and then developed to the more general problems of schooling kids in Nevis. Fascinating.
We catch a glimpse of a field of windmills which is quite obviously powering a housing estate and a school. The weather is closing in and soon we have torrential rain which prevent us to explore any further on foot… don’t like being wet.
The weather does not improve in the following days… the wind and rain are relentless and we are glad that we are on a mooring ball and so close to the Four Seasons Resort…At least we have excellent internet access and I am making progress with updating the website. Ian is pottering around doing little jobs.
We do meet our neighbours Bill Pinney and Raquel, his beautifully exotic Colombian wife on Rachel J. Logan. What a mine of information. They kindly offer to take us to the full moon party over in Oualie Beach tomorrow.
