Habitation Clement

The habitation clement does not disappoint. Beautiful grounds and gardens, dotted with very good art works, the house is interesting and so pleasant I could live there. There is plenty of history and all very well told and displayed. As for the old rhumery, it is very atmospheric. Love the black and white portraits of employees of years gone by everywhere complete with a bit about their jobs. The chais where the rhum in casks are left to mature are impressive by their size. We, actually Ian counted 3,800 barrels in one of them and there were 4 of them we saw. Enough to keep a few people happy. More art in a fabulous modern building in what looks like brushed aluminium. As for the tasting at the end of the visit it was very convivial, although it was probably the meanest doses we have ever had…shame, the rum was good.
