Tula House

Monday 3rd December 18

We reach Tula house around midday. It is an old Dutch plantation house, on the top of the hill. The views are magnificent, all green with a glimpse of the sea in the distance. The master house is small but there is quite a few dependences which have been restored and many more that have not. The museum takes its name from a slave leader who fought the Dutch authorities in the late 1700, losing his life in the process. Nice little museum mingling art and period artefacts [looking at the black and white pictures, straw hats were produced here]. The yellow house is surprisingly cool even under the eaves… I could live there, love the views and the sea is so close.
