New Year Eve

Monday 31st December 18

New years eve

Jacqui and david came to us and we had a really nice evening on board before we made our way to the remparts to see the fireworks. The place is absolutely mobbed. Ever street in the old town has put tables outside, and are charging the equivalent of 70 pound for a meal. Not so bad, in comparaison to the price you woukld pay in the uk. Some places really went to town on the deco and the party hats, other are definitely family affairs. And at every corner there is music either people playing or blaring out from speakers.

The fireworks are fantastic, we can see all around the bay towards boca grande and there are loads all the way around. As per usual, any opportunity to make a few bucks for the locals, chairs are for rent all along the remparts for a few bucks. We choose to sit on the wall, sipping champagne, next to a band. Once the excitement over, we wandered around the streets, stopping and having a dance where the music was to our taste. We had a ball…. got home knackered after 4.00am… not so clever we have to sail tomorrow.

Tuesday 2nd January 19

Ian will be travelling on his birthday… as per usual. We are not going so far only to isla Rosario. Nice sail …  although a bit blowy with big waves…. we watch as the tall white buildings of Cartagena disappeared in the mist around the corner. The anchorage is nice although it takes us 2 goes at anchoring…
