Boca Grande

Wednesday 26th December 18
A day at the beach, boca grande.
From the anchorage, we can see the skyscrapers just across from the bay. We are quite curious to go and have a look and today is as good as any day to go and explore the other side. We have to walk around the whole bay, to the old town and then around. Not really set up for people walking though, once we reach the town quay, we are faced with 4 lanes traffic each side before we can cross to the sea side walkway. The traffic is horrendous too. We only manage about half way down the peninsula before we set up on the beach for lunch under the palm trees. The beach is clean and set out with awnings, umbrella and chairs near enough the whole way. Musician serenade the family on the beach. Vendors of ice creams, sausages, and other stuff patrol the seashore. Not sure it is actually suitable for swimming, the rollers are enormous and the colour of the sea not that enticing. Although it does look like Miami Beach from afar, it is not quite like it seen near. It is a hotchpots of new build and quite older ones. Many are in the process of being build and not many shops around and certainly not the high end shops I was imagining. We only count 2 malls, one of which had a cinema, price of the ticket only 7 pesos, about pound 2.50 . Difficult to see who lives there or if it is mostly holiday destination. Glad we did come around , interesting to see.
