St Kitts – Basse Terre

St Kitts

Basse Terre

Thursday 7th December 17

Sure enough, we are moved on early this morning, after Ian chased up the harbour master a few times as customers were wanting to use the fuel pontoon. The weather has not really improved, raining quite a bit. This is cruise liner country, they are everywhere in the bay and so are their passengers on land. The cruise town is very much geared up for the wealthy tourists, all selling the same stuff but at very different prices, the nearer to the dock the dearer stuff is. Still they do put a good show for the tourists, music and local traditional dancing. We escape quickly to the real town which is far more interesting. Plenty of churches of all denomination, smells of baking bread and quiet little parks make a nice change from the hustle and bustle of downtown. The highlights of the day, climbing the church tower on the rickety ladder and the Xmas carol concert on the piazza in the evening.
