Guadeloupe – Last day in St Anne

Last day in St Anne
We were woken up early by some noisy motor boat bombing in the bay this morning. As always the curtains twitcher, I came up and noticed a lone swimmer (with his little yellow buoy at his ankle). from where I was standing he was right in the way of the motor boat and given that he was not slowing down, the driver had not seen him. Loads of shouting from the swimmer ensued, he obviously thought his last hour had come. The motor boat finally saw him and slowed down and this got completely surreal… the motor boat turned round and came back to the swimmer to give him a piece of his mind…a shouting match ensued, could not believe the gall of the driver, who first nearly killed the swimmer and then proceeded to abuse him! Some people needs their head tested!
Another day, another beach. This time we want to check out the beach of the Caravelle on the other side of the fishing village. On the way in with the dinghy we admire a yole, a traditional sailing boat from around here, going through its paces… and boy this little craft is fast! A delight to watch. We find the beach and we can now see why the Club med has a resort here. It is the best beach in town! and packed. We still managed to get a place in the shade and the hammock is out. We watch the wind and kites surfers doing their stuff. We are both enjoying our books, Ian laying on the sand when he gives a little whimper. An iguana is actually very slowly climbing on his back, and settles on his shoulder, not moving for ages. It was just amazing this huge lizard of probably well over a metre long just sitting there watching him in the eye! He would not move until I started getting too close for his liking with the camera. The thing did not go away though; he just stayed around, prowling around Ian, circling him from head to toes, which he bit! The sight soon attracts a few people and I guess both will be in many holiday picts described as the phlegmatic Brit who did not bat an eyelid when taken for a climbing frame by an iguana on a beach in Guadeloupe.
