Prickly bay Sept 1

Monday 28th August

Drama, we have no more varnish and our cooker has now stopped working. We are hoping that it just needs a bit of maintenance otherwise this is going to be an expensive piece of kit to replace. David comes to look at it. He can’t really diagnose the problem on board so off come the cooker, in the dinghy. I have just finished my varnishing on deck when a bunch of boats passed by us. No time to waste, we put away the sole boards and make our way to the bottom of the bay. Sure enough there is a big hole again next to Time after time. I watch in awe as Francine climb the mast. And on the other side we have Pinnacle, Gigi and Robert from Canada, we met at the steel band parade. We are back between friends. Hopefully this will hold this time. Francine and Al are on their way to the beach with Mizzen and we jump in for a walk on the beach to catch up. I like these little walks. We have a good excuse for pizza tonight… no cooker.  Karen and Will have just come back from taking Max to the airport and they join us. Very enjoyable evening.

Tuesday 28th August

Chore day today, wash day in Spice island marine, the cheapest laundry in the Caribbean.  As per usual, plenty people to talk to whilst the washing machine is doing its stuff, 3 loads takes time. Good thing Nikki on Grateful has a name and number for a supplier of new cooker. Granted it is in Guadeloupe but it may be useful. Ian has gone to St George to pick up the varnish and when he gets back, hot and bothered, we decide to have a treat, coffee and toasts! Good news though, David, the cooker repair man has been able to fix the problem. We have now a fully functioning cooker! No need to get a new one. Brilliant! We get it back early afternoon.

The rest of the day is spent watching the washing dry. Don’t fancy my small drifting away!

Francine And Al are keen to go to the Brewery for the Jam session. Very good music had us onthe dance floor all night. Francine had a ball, not sure about Al, guess he was worried that Francine would take either the cat or the child home!
