Work & Play in Prickly Bay

Work on the boat Week 04 Aug – 10th Aug

The boat is a mess, the varnishing of the sole boards means that I have large pieces of wood all over the cockpit, in the sunshine, and then a downpour would loom and we would have to get everything down below before the rain. All theses bits have to be piled up on the table. The smell and the heat in the saloon is just unbearable. And it is going so slow, having to wait for 4 hours minimum before layers. I spend a lot of time sanding too and it is going to take be ages!

Still Ian is ploughing on with his job list. The spring system on the front hatch has been repaired, the hatch has had to come out and sent to the workshop for welding but they done it the same afternoon which was good given the amount of rain we get every day.

Next job the tuning of the rigging, after a few false starts, the guy not turning up as arranged on the day, then the rain, then not having the tuning machine,  this finally happens, although he had to do 2 trips as he had not got the right pins! And then Robert from New vision mentioned that he had the machine on board….we could have used it and given him a bottle of wine rather then parting with a biggish amount of cash!
