Back to base – Prickly Bay

Saturday 26th Aug

Up early this morning, we are going back to base in Prickly bay. Nice sail, well up to the point, as per usual as soon as we turn the bottom corner, the wind is on the nose and strengthening, we even had a bit of a blow with over 25 knots, fortunately without rain. Did not get wet this time round.

Finding a place is a bit tricky. There are much more boats in the bay than when we left. Time after time is there so we park ourselves not to far from them (they have coloured light on at night easy to locate when we come home late! And they are nice!). We are too late to go to the hash today so we stay on board getting ready to varnish tomorrow.

Sunday 27th August

Weather is not so good today, so varnish must take place inside which is not too pleasant. The fumes are quite strong and the sole boards are everywhere. I hide in the forepeak sorting out my wardrobe when Ian calls. The wind has picked up and the rain started and we seem to be dragging the anchor. Need to move quick we are close to Time after time. Anchor goes up and we have no other option than to go to the entrance of the bay, where there is more room. We find Chantey there; at least we’ll have nice neighbours. The downside is that the wind and the rolling is much stronger there than at the bottom of the bay. Plus it is longer to reach the marina and the beach. We’ll have to keep an eye out for boats leaving and see if we can reclaim our favourite spot. The rest of the day and night is very, very rolly again. To have a break, we decide to join Karen, Will and Max from Chantey to watch the movie at the tikki bar, nice change, we have not seen a movie for months.
