Antigua – Falmouth Harbour

Falmouth Harbour
Tuesday 19th December 17
to Wednesday 3rd January 18
That is it we are now in position. Falmouth harbour will be our HQ for the Christmas and New Year festivities. We wanted to be there in good time as we were worried that the harbour would be busy. There is only one sandy beach in the bay and we made sure that we were in close enough so we could pop ashore on the dinghy easily. We have quite a gathering of the clan planned: Lynn & Peter (Christine), Sam & Steve (Wanderlust), Diane & Jeff (Canapesia) form the British contingent. Francine & Al (Time after Time) and Caroline & Scott (Sealife) are our American representatives. Jonine and Vic (Perline) from Australia will also be here for the festive season, and that is only the one we know!
The next few days are spent getting ready for Christmas, including shopping and cleaning Mr X. No doubts there will be plenty of entertaining to be done on board. We also have a few walks around the area. We are not very far from English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard and there are lovely walks to be done in the national park. The anchorage is a never ending source of wonder, the boats coming in and out are spectacular, mainly huge and all of them absolutely beautiful, whether sailing or motor vessel. A few 2 and 3 masts anchor off shore and add to the gorgeousness of the setting sun.
Christine is the first to turn up fresh from an overnight passage from St Martin, nice to catch up with them. Next is Time after Time and Perline, all within shouting distance. Canapesia is further up and Sealife and David from Windchimes are on the other of the harbour. Wandelust will be there on Christmas eve. Great, so now we have everyone in place.
It is great to meet up again, our old friends from the ARC and the new ones we made in Grenada. Loads of news to catch up on and we make the most of each other company in the days before Christmas.
